One Day New Members Class

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away;  behold, all things have become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17

We have all done it.  Walked down that aisle, down the steps, to the alter and into the loving arms of God. The day you accepted Christ was the best day of your life–a step in the right direction, igniting the light inside and showering others with God’s grace.

Complete your membership classes in just one day! The next One-Day New Members’ Class will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the North Campus Sanctuary from 9:00AM-4:00PM.

According to CNN, Seven children were killed at Plaza Towers Elementary School in Moore, Oklahoma. Emergency rescue teams were seen scouring the rubble Monday evening.

A Day in Mae with Lady Mae

Mother’s Day weekend thousands of women joined First Lady Mae Blake for “A Day in May.”  There have been resounding accolades about the success of this event.  There was food, entertainment, fellowship amongst women and a highly anticipated address from First Lady Mae Blake.  Many women marveled over the advice, words of wisdom and encouragement that Lady Mae imparted so generously and eloquently.

Betty Smith, President of IAMSK, tells us, “As the President of IAMSK, being at this events means that it is a way to bridge the Young Adult Women to the Women Affairs Department and to let our first lady, Lady Mae know, that the young adult women love her and support her. And we admired her and she is everything we inspire to do with all of her elegance, grace and class.”

Many spoke of the event being the perfect Mother’s Day gift as they hoped to hear advice about motherhood and fellowship and celebrate with fellow mothers.  “I’m expecting to hear an enlightening word from Lady Mae in regards to mothers; She’s always energetic in her speaking and I usually work with her in the national work for guests that are coming in for Holy Convocation. And so I just wanted to be here and be amongst the saints.  So I felt it was going to be very uplifting because it’s close to Mother’s Day.”  Told to us by Mother Kathy Humphrey who was a first time attendee of the event.

The spirit of appreciation and thankfulness resonating from Mother’s Day reflected the hearts of women in the crowd towards Lady Mae and her amazing speech and event.  “A Day in May” simply reflects the immense love our first lady has for women, and she held nothing back and spared no expense to provide a fantastic Mother’s Day and time of fellowship for women everywhere.  All in all, A Day in May received the highest accolades and was undoubtedly a huge success.

Proverbs 31:25-28

New King James Version (NKJV)

25 Strength and honor are her clothing;
She shall rejoice in time to come.
26 She opens her mouth with wisdom,
And on her tongue is the law of kindness.
27 She watches over the ways of her household,
And does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children rise up and call her blessed;
Her husband also, and he praises her:

From their nurturing touch,  biological senses, and understanding–the importance if Mother’s crosses every literature and culture known to man. Our literature is full of adages and proverbs from nearly every culture or country on Earth. A Jewish proverb claims, “God could not be everywhere so he made mothers.” An Arabic proverb expands on that point, “The mother is a school; if she is well-reared, you are sure to build a nation.”

And throughout the centuries, mothers have always stepped into those roles, defining them according to their children’s — and community’s.  Join West Angeles in honoring ALL Mother’s this Sunday, May 12, 2013 in the 8AM and 11AM services. Here is our Mother’s Day Bulletin.

World Missions Conference

Today there are more than 6,000 unreached people groups in the world. These are peoples among which there is no indigenous community of believing Christians with adequate numbers and resources to evangelize the people group. Our goal is two-fold:

  1. To deliver the gospel message using an appropriate medium that provides members from that people group historic access to the Good News.
  2. To invest in leadership training strategies that empowers indigenous leaders for the purpose of reaching their own people.

Join West Angeles for our Annual World Missions Conference! Join Pastor Ben Stephens, Bishop Francis Kamau, and Elder John Patton for a dynamic teaching on the importance of missions.

Sunday School Rally Day

When you hear “Sunday School”, does it make you think of your childhood and the wonderful teaching you experienced? COME OUT and see how you can further your walk with the Lord and pay homage to the good ol’ days.  Child care provided.

Brotherhood Breakfast

In the Brotherhood Ministry, our mission is to promote, encourage, and spiritually strengthen men of Christ and those needing spiritual guidance through: fellowship,  awareness of moral family values, and the commitment of service to the church and the community.

As more young men are faced with harsh decisions daily, without the guidance of a strong male influence, it is the divine motivation of this ministry to motivate and equip young male adults with a strong Christian mentality that will better equip them with the tools necessary to live productive spiritual lives.

You are welcome to join Brotherhood for their Breakfast Saturday, May 18th 8:30am in The Crystal Room
