I AM 2018: Presiding Bishop Blake Calls for Love and Unity

T

he mandate for 2018 from Presiding Bishop Charles Edward Blake to the West Angeles congregation and to the body of Christ at large is that we embrace God’s will for His church to walk in love and unity. “When the world sees the church working in unity,” said Bishop, “that’s a testimony to Him of the glory and the might of God and of the effectiveness of His work within the church. We’ve been well-led by Dr. King and others; now it is time for us to march into the future in love and in unity.” #IAM2018

John 13:34 – A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

John 17:20 -23 –  “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; 21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22 And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: 23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.

God has a vision for you in 2018

I AM 2018 – God has a vision for you in 2018.

“This scripture was spoken by Jesus in a very significant period in His life. The Bible lets us know love is the distinctive characteristic by which we are to be known.”

“You might have thought that you were the one, on your own initiative who came to God, found God, and became a part of God’s church. But in reality,  if the Lord had not drawn you, you would not have been able to come.”

“The Lord picked you out! Come on tell your neighbor, ‘You might not like me, but He chose me!’”

“Love and unity powerfully inform the world that Jesus is the Son of God…and the Lord of all creation. The world will not know what it needs to know without unity.”

“When the world sees the church working in unity, serving God in unity, that’s a testimony to Him of the glory and the might of God and the effectiveness of His work within the church.”

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose – Romans 8:28

“As the church works out its mission before the public in love and unity, it causes the body to grow.”

“Unity can move mountains; fill up valleys, explore the depths of the sea.”

“There are many things that can only be done in unity.”

“One is too small a number for success.”

“There are no problems that we cannot solve together, and there are few problems that we can solve all by ourselves.”

“There is a benefit in mutuality of effort in love and unity.”

Our society emphasizes individuality and independence, but God is calling on us to come together as one -Presiding Bishop Charles Edward Blake

A message from Presiding Bishop Charles Edward Blake –
All is not well with black America, and with black people in Africa:

  • 18% graduate college, vs. 30% of whites.
  • 25% live below the poverty level, vs. 10% of whites.
  • Black families are less likely to contain a married couple: 46%, vs. 81% of whites.
  • White males are more likely to live 5 years longer than Black males.
  • A Black man is 7x more likely to go to jail than a white man, 25% more likely to die of cancer, and 2x as likely to die of diabetes.
  • Black people are still the poorest, the sickest, and the first to die in our society.
  • Black-on-black homicide is the leading cause of death among black men [of a certain age group].
  • Black men are 14% of the US population but represent 40% of the prison population.
  • Blacks account for ½ of all AIDS cases and 50% of all AIDS deaths.

Weapons of mass destruction may not have been discovered in Iran, but they are all over the black community. If we ever needed a perfect storm to bring us to action and to life, that storm has taken place.

I realize, however, that we cannot help our brothers and sisters if we ourselves are wounded psychologically, emotionally, and physically.  So as Presiding Bishop of the Church of God In Christ, I have asked each of our 12,000 churches around the world to expand their ministries by launching what I call The COGIC Urban Initiatives program Please CLICK HERE to read more.

“John Maxwell said, ‘Teamwork divides the risk and multiplies the effect.’  Teamwork will make the dream work.”

“If Jesus could rise from the dead, then there’s nothing He cannot do.”

“Jesus died on the cross for us and Jesus arose from the dead.  Jesus is a great conqueror.”

“‘All power is given unto me (Matthew 28:18)’. We have no greater enemy than death, but if Jesus can overcome death, then nothing is impossible.”

“Tell 2 people, ‘My God: He can do anything!’”

“You don’t have to fear death or be afraid of anything. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

It is time for us to march into the future in love and in unity – Presiding Bishop Charles Edward Blake

“When you know Jesus and the  power of His resurrection, it gives you courage and power to live for Jesus.”

“‘I have the power to tread on serpents scorpions:’ that places everything under your feet.”

“When you know Jesus, you know the power that raised Him from the dead.  To know Him and the power of His resurrection are to have that same power at work in your life.”

“The Bible says that ‘1 can chase 1000’: that means 2 can accomplish 10x as much as 1 can accomplish. My message today is that we release an explosion of potential when we join together in unity.”

“Our society emphasizes individuality and independence, but God is calling on us  to move away from individuality and independence and make a commitment to love unity and agreement; to come together as one.”

“What was destroyed at the tower of Babel, Jesus restored to the church on the Day of Pentecost so that we can speak the same thing; so that we can be as one.”

Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven – Matthew 18:19

“Even in this day, we need to come together by the power of almighty God.  ‘You shall receive power’: the power to witness, the power to do the work of God, to do God’s will, to bring glory to the name of Jesus.”

“When people come together as one, nothing  that they’ve imagined to do will be restrained from them.”

“God’s will for us is love and unity.”

“We are a people of love and unity, and when we come together in love…we enter the realm of commanded blessings.

“You can’t stop it! You can’t block it!  Tell 3 people,  ‘You’re going higher!’”

Dear Lord,
Thank you for the beginning of this new year, that we walk into this year with commanded blessings upon us.
Hallelujah! In Jesus name, Amen.
