Bishop Charles E. Blake: “It’s Time for War”

Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake’s impassioned sermon on Sunday, April 26, is a call to action for our times titled, “Entangled Warriors.”

“Fight in the name of Jesus. It’s time for war!” implored Bishop Blake, as he rallied the saints of West Angeles Church of God In Christ in this most important sermon.

“Too many of our young men are in jail: it’s time for war.
Too many of our young people are on drugs: it’s time for war.
Too many of our daughters are ruining their lives: it’s time for war.
Too many of our marriages, too many of our families are falling apart, too many of our children have absentee fathers, too many of our people are poor, too many of our old are forgotten and unloved, too many are malnourished without adequate medical care. Too many of our people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…”

“We are the Army of God, and we are deputized to tell the devil and the forces of evil, ‘STOP! You are under arrest!’ It’s time for war!”

Bishop Blake continued, “Are there any warriors in the house? Shake off what’s holding you down; shake off what’s holding you back. We can win this battle. We are overcomers!”

Some of highlights from the sermon follow:

“Some of us don’t even know we have an enemy. Some of us don’t even know that we are at war.”

“Some of us feel that…‘If there’s going to be a war, it’s not going to be on our soil…not within our nation…Let me affirm, however, that we are in a cosmic war against a malicious opponent: the devil.”

“The devil, he’s a vicious enemy. He hates God. He hates good. And He hates you.”

“Our enemy, the devil, is not playing. He’s fighting to kill. He comes to kill, to steal, and to destroy. He is at war with us, and he recognizes no rules of engagement: anything and everything goes.”

“How many of you know that we’re living in a wicked world?”

“Every Christian is born a warrior. It is his destiny to be assaulted. It is his duty to attack” – Charles Spurgeon

“Men are deceived, and they’re chasing after that which will only bring wickedness, pain, and destruction.”

“While the devil is working, what you need to know is that God is also at work in the world for good and for righteousness.”

“Is anybody here on God’s side?”

“The real joy of life is only possible through Jesus Christ the Son of God.”

“God is concerned about righteousness.”

“The devil is defeated. Jesus is our champion! Jesus is our Lord!”

“Satan’s most devastating weapons have been snatched away from him!”

“Does anybody here know we have the victory? I went to the end of the book, and we won. We won!”

“We are witnesses of, and we are called to fight, in a cosmic battle between good and evil.”

“Good is still, good, and evil is still evil.”

“Jesus came on the scene. He died on the cross. He arose from the dead, that He might destroy the works of, the projects of, the strategy of the devil.”

“Those who would accept Jesus Christ and who would live for him should live according to His example, and according to His principles.”

“Wicked people belong to the devil, and righteous people belong to God.”

“The world should be able to read us, to find out about our God.”

“You’re a letter from the Lord, and when people read what you say, how you live, and what you do, they ought to be hearing from God Himself” – Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake

(Charles) Spurgeon said, “…every Christian is [born] a warrior. It is his destiny to be assaulted; it is his duty to attack[1].”

“If you’re not having run-ins with the devil, it may be because you’re going in his direction.”

“The Bible says we can make the devil run away from us. It’s time for a paradigm shift! It’s time to move to the next level; it’s time to redefine ourselves. We’ve got to become a warrior generation for the Lord!”

“We’re the salt of the earth; we’re the light of the world. We’re supposed to be shaking things up…and turning things around for the Lord!”

“It’s time for war!”

“Too many of our people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…We are the Army of God and we are deputized to tell the devil and the forces of evil, ‘STOP! You are under arrest!’”

“Entangled warriors are ineffective. Entangled warriors are too easily defeated by the devil.”

“We cannot win the external battle until we win the internal battle.”

“The enemy you tolerate and pamper today, will return to destroy you tomorrow.”

“Private sins become public scandals.”

“If you really want to serve God, then fall in love with God.”

“Is there anybody here who loves the Lord?”

“God is not so concerned with what you were…He’s concerned about what you can become”.

“I don’t know what kind of net you’re in, but if you lift your eyes up to the Lord, the Bible says whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

“God is looking for somebody who’s made up their minds and decided in their heart, ‘I’m going to take a stand for the Lord. I’m going to stand for righteousness. I’m going to stand for Jesus Christ!’”

“I see you victorious! I see you winning!”

“We can win this battle! We are overcomers!”
