The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise –Proverbs 11:30
The Soul Winners Evangelism Ministry is the witnessing outreach ministry of the West Angeles Church of God In Christ’s Department of Evangelism. Our mission is winning lost souls to Jesus Christ through witnessing on the streets and door to door, in the communities surrounding the West Angeles Cathedral and North Campus. “Evangelism is not an option,” says Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake, Sr., “it is a mandate…Not only is it a mandate, it is a survival strategy.”
Under the leadership of our Presiding Bishop and Evangelist Yvonne Biggs, the Soul Winners witnessing teams witness every Saturday, and participate and partner with other evangelism ministries. Ongoing initiatives and programs include:
Monthly Team Meetings, Training Classes and Orientation
Evangelist Certification Program
Intercessory Prayer Group
Annual Awards Dinner
Annual Summer Rally
Annual Evangelism Conference
The Soul Winners Logo depicts light bearers- bringing light to those that sit in darkness in the shadow of the church. Be a beacon of light: become part of our ministry.

Soul Winners Evangelism Ministry: “To give light to those who sit in darkness” – Luke 1:79
Presiding Bishop Charles Edward Blake, Sr on Evangelism:
“What should be our endeavor? Life on earth ought not be a quest for the things treasures or the material goods of the earth. Life ought to be a quest to know God and the Kingdom of God.
Jesus said, ‘You’re going to be a minister; you’re going to be a witness…’ That means that evangelism is not an option, it is a mandate…Not only is it a mandate, it is a survival strategy. It means that you’re going to help people; you show concern for people, and you serve people even as you witness to them.
Tell somebody else what the Lord has done for you. You may not give that individual a material possession, but you give them something that money cannot buy.
When you win a soul you:
rob the devil of one more victim.
give that person a new lease on life.
make the world a better place.
The world would be a better place if everybody loved Jesus. The stars on Hollywood Boulevard are not the only stars…The Bible says that soul winners are stars! When God becomes your priority, He takes care of your sojourn on the earth.”
Then He said unto His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore, pray the Lord of the Harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” Matthew 9:37-38 NKJV
The Evangelist-Missionary Fellowship of West Angeles Church of God in Christ is anointed and appointed to preach, teach, deliver and heal through the power of the Holy Ghost. Training to obtain your license as an Evangelist-Missionary is provided in the School of Practical Christian Living, (PCL) and in the West Angeles Bible College, taught by our own seasoned missionaries. These courses are also beneficial for those not wanting to obtain a license.
Any gift or calling that embodies Christ, has a place in the Evangelist-Missionary Fellowship under the covering of our Pastor Bishop Charles E. Blake, our auxiliary manager, Elder Oscar Owens, and our President Dr. Catherine Gray. Come with me on a tour inside the Evangelist Missionary Fellowship.
Inside the Evangelist-Missionary Fellowship
Do you have the gift of mercy? The hospital, sick and shut-in visitation, ministry needs laborers. Or, perhaps you function better in the gift of help. The Missionaries help Sister Dorothy Johnson on Skid Row on 2nd and 4th Sundays. You will always be welcome there.
Do you sing? The missionary choir ministers every 5th Sunday night and during our revivals. Don’t they sound good? Our ministry in the convalescent hospitals and the House of Uruhu need singers to raise the praise on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and 4th Sunday.
Has God given you a ministry of deliverance, healing or prayer? Then join the other Missionaries who labor as altar workers, prayer intercessors, and warriors. You will become closer to God as a result.
Are you looking for a Sunday School class? Rush to rooms 10-14 in the multipurpose building at 8:30 am on Sunday mornings. You will find an informative, inspiring study of the Word of God. You can also participate as you volunteer to answer questions from the lessons on a weekly basis.
Want to meet more people in a smaller setting? Join us in the multipurpose building in rooms 1, 3,5 at 7:00p.m. for our third Friday night fellowship meeting, where the Holy Spirit is always in charge.
These are just a few examples of members of the Evangelist-Missionary Fellowship who labor in the Kingdom. Other examples include: Usher Board, Deaconess Board, Sunday School teachers, leaders in the Small Group Discipleship Ministry and in various other areas of the church.
There is a place. Here.
Did you know that the executive director of the Youth Ministry, the director of volunteer services, and the President of the Young Women’s Christian Council are all licensed Evangelist-Missionaries? We believe that whatever our hands find to do, we will do it to the glory of God.
We beseech you to answer the call for laborers, to go into the Lord’s harvest while it is day, “for night commeth and no woman can work.”
“For you are God’s fellow workers” I Corinthians 3:9a NKJV

The Bible is filled with physical actions that we ought to take in relationship with God. God wants our bodies. He wants our submissiveness. Praise is the key to powerful living. It ignites God’s power in our lives.
“Praise our God, all you His servants and those who fear Him, both small and great!” – Revelation 19:5
As human beings, we were created by God to praise Him (Isaiah 43:7, Matthew 21:16). Praise, prayer, and fasting are for spiritual warfare, for lifting the spiritual man up and putting the physical man down. God is at work in your mind, in your soul.
So as we enter the season of praise of the coming of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, do you know what it means to praise Him?
The Hebrews had seven words for praise which that tell us how to praise the Lord. All of them mean praise, but each word focuses on a different kind of behavior:
Towdah – Psalm 50:14. The word Towdah means “thanksgiving.” Towdah means “to lift up your hands in a cup-like manner as in giving or receiving a gift, or giving a sacrifice.” Lift up your hands and say, “Lord I praise you, and I know you’re going to pour out your spirit into my life. I’m cupping my hands so I can receive it and retain it.”
Yadah – PSALM 63:1. Yadah means “lift up your arms and worship with extended hands.” Lift up your hands; extend them into the air and say, “Lord, I surrender to you. Your will be done in my life.”
Zamar – PSALM 92:1-3. Zamar is song and praise on the instruments of music. Our musical gifts are given to us by God for the purpose of praising Him.
Tehillah – PSALM 34:1; Tehillah means “to sing in the spirit, glorify the Lord in song. To be filled with the spirit; make melody in your heart.” Sing “Praise the Lord!”
Barak – PSALM 95:6-7; to kneel; to rock back and forth, and side to side. Bow down before the Lord. You’ve got to move!
Shabach – PSALM 150:6. Loud praise; shout to God proclaiming the glory of God. Release and lift your voice to the Lord! “Let everything that has breath praise Him!”
Halal – PSALM 147:1. Halal means “clamorous, foolish, crazy praise!” Whatever you do to celebrate anything else, you ought to do even more for the Lord!
The Bible says the Lord inhabits the praises of His people. When you praise Him, when you open your mouth and worship Him, the Lord shows up in the middle of your praise, and you feel His presence.
Lift your hands and say, “Lord, fill me again. I want to be filled with the Holy Ghost!” Clap your hands and praise Him! Halleluiah!
Encountering God: The Pathway to His Presence, by Bishop Charles E. Blake, Sr. Paperback Legacy Publishers International, 2004, 173 pages.
In Encountering God: The Pathway to His Presence, Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake beautifully and poignantly illustrates to us the clear path to establishing a deeper relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Experiencing your divine encounter with God means following steps that will touch His heart. From Presiding Bishop Blake: “If you will follow these steps, then I can assure you that the experience you so desperately desire…will come!”
