Scripture Proclaims the Benefits of Singing, Part I

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success” – Joshua 1:8  (NKJV)

Do you know the power of the words you sing?  And do you know the physical and spiritual benefits of singing the words of God?  Singing must be an important gift from God to us because it appears in the (King James version of the) Bible almost 200 times! That means that our words – even in song – are for God’s purposes: to build us up and to build up others, to heal and strengthen us, to strengthen our children, to raise a nation.

And we don’t have to be in a choir in order sing God’s words, or for our singing to have an effect. When others hear the songs we sing, it can have uplifting influence, or it can be to them a sign of God’s righteousness.  Its effects should not be taken lightly, because music has the power to influence the nations of the world.  First and foremost, the words we sing have an effect on us first, and they can connect us to the miracles of God.

In Part I of our list, we share 17 scriptures which proclaim the wonders of singing the words of God:

AS GOD’S GIFTED

1 Chronicles 9:33 – These are the singers, heads of the fathers’ houses of the Levites, who lodged in the chambers, and were free from other duties; for they were employed in that work day and night.

2 Chronicles 5:13 – indeed it came to pass, when the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord, and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the Lord, saying:For He is good, For His mercy endures forever,” that the house, the house of the Lord, was filled with a cloud,

TO UPHOLD A NATION
