3 Things You Should Know About Fear and How To Overcome It

FEAR –  It’s a perceived threat or danger which triggers an emotional and physical reaction. Fear can bring on a racing heart, heavy breathing, tremors, tears, or a “fight or flight” response.  Feeling afraid and uncertain? Read below about what the Bible says about fear, and how to overcome it.

For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7

Rational fear can protect us from falling prey to dangerous circumstances. It can boost our need to confront or to escape dangerous situations. But irrational fear distorts the truth. It interferes with our ability to make rational decisions and to function in a happy and productive manner. Fearful reactions to normal daily activities and encounters are classified as phobias. This condition is often caused by a traumatic experience. There are 3 things that you should know about fear:

  1. Fear is a spirit.
  1. Fear does not come from God.
  1. Fear can be defeated when we walk in God’s power and love.

ANGELS AMONG US

The Holy Spirit once told me something that was really precious. He said, “When you’re in fear, what you really need is a bodyguard.” “Why would I need a bodyguard?” I asked. “A bodyguard is assigned to protect those who are high-ranking; VIPs, very important people,” He said, “and you are important to God. Therefore, He will send you a bodyguard to protect you.” I still didn’t get it. But God then lead me to Hebrews 1:14, which says, “Therefore, angels are only servants – spirits sent to care for people who will inherit salvation.” And to Psalms 91:11-12, where David wrote,

For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. 12 In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.

“I’LL FIGHT YOUR BATTLES”

I’m certain that when David went out to take on Goliath, angels showed up to help him kill that giant. And when you’re facing giants in your life; when you’re facing your Goliath, do not be ruled by fear!  God has given you divine bodyguards – angels – to protect you too. Psalm 34:7 tells us that The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them.” God wants to rescue you. No matter what your situation is, whether your fear is real, or a phobia that has you in captivity, God will send a bodyguard. He’s sending angels to watch over you, to set you free from the bondage of fear that satan is trying to place on your mind and over your life. Know that –

  • Angels will guide you. Exodus 23:20  – See, I am sending an angel before you to protect you on your journey and lead you safely to the place I have prepared for you.
  • Angels will rescue you. Psalm 34:7 –  The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him, and rescues them.
  • Angels will protect you. Psalm 91:11 – For God will command his angels to protect you in all of your ways.
  • Angels will visit you. Hebrews 13:2 – We may even entertain angels without knowing it.
