Amanda Gorman Featured at Super Bowl LV
If you watched Super Bowl LV on Sunday – of course you watched the Super Bowl! – you also watched Amanda Gorman make her presence felt once again.
Gorman, the 22-year old National Youth Poet Laureate that took the world by storm at Joe Biden’s inauguration on Jan. 20, was also featured before Super Bowl LV, reciting an original poem as a tribute to the honorary captains of the game.
Those honorary captains were essential workers Trimaine Davis (educator), Suzie Dorner (ICU nurse manager), and James Martin (Marine veteran).
Check out Gorman’s tribute below:
Gorman became the first poet to ever perform at the Super Bowl.
Also before the game, Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter H.E.R. performed America The Beautiful, and Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Jazmine Sullivan performed “The Star-Spangled Banner” in a duet with Eric Church.
