We Remember September 11th

I remember exactly where I was on September 11, 2001.  I sat on the edge of my seat as the rest of my fellow students clustered around a television in the middle of my 9th grade English class.  Horror gripped my body as I saw ominous smoke bellow from buildings and police officers frantic over the airways. I remember asking my teacher, “is this a movie or is this real?” With tears in her eyes, my teacher—Mrs. Bridges said, “Antoinette…this is very real.”
September 11th will always be remembered as surreal day of pain and disbelief for the American people. How could a series of four coordinated suicide attacks fall upon a country that seemed so impenetrable? On that dark morning, 19 terrorists from the Islamist militant group al-Qaeda hijacked four passenger jets and intentionally crashed two into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, a third into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and a fourth jet—Flight 93—crashed into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylania before it could reach its intended target in Washington, DC.
It would be wise for us to pause and reflect on the courageous men and women on that day.  Let us reflect on El Shaddai’s grace and mercy on how He opened the gates of heaven and welcomed loved ones.  Let us reflect on Jehovah Shammah
 —a God who is there, comforting wife’s who had lost their husbands and children who had lost their mothers .  Jehovah Rapha—healing God who is yet and still bringing back the minds of city officials in FDNY AND NYPD suffering from posttraumatic stress. Jehovah Jireh—a provider to families who have still been unable to identify remains of a family member.
Many brothers and sisters are mourning on this day and searching for a need to smile. Tomorrow is truly not promised and as we are considering the feelings of our fellow man, it would be wise for us to also consider ourselves. If we should perish today would we be satisfied with the lives we have lead, would our family be pleased at the example we have left for future generations to emulate? And most importantly…would we hear our merciful father whisper onto us, “Well done.”
May we continue to have love and understanding in our heart. Treat every verb that comes from your mouth onto someone’s ears as golden.  Change starts within. Shalom.

Your Dreams Have Meaning

Do you often wake up feeling there was a significant message in your dream, but you’re just not sure what it is?

We have all heard from our doctors that sleep is so important to us. We require rest to regain our physical strength and proper activity of our limbs for the next day. But have you noticed that you are most vulnerable when you sleep?

Your defenses are down, the stress of your job or daily tasks are set aside and you are most open to be receptive to the will of God. One of the best-known biblical dreams is the protection of Christ after the wise men presented gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. After they left the bible tells us in Matthew 2:12-18 , “12 Then, being divinely warned in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed for their own country another way.

13 Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I bring you word; for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him.”

When was the last time God spoke to you in your dreams and preserved you from an outcome? When was the last time God gave you a vision? We would love to hear from you. Simply fill the form out below and believe that even if your dream has not come to pass, God is preparing a way for you!

Summer is God’s Season

For many Christians, the season of summer is when God shows up and shows out. From the astronomy perspective, summer marks the new angle of the raising sun, for nature we see a return of robins and geese, even the multiplication of bugs that seem to turn up everywhere. All these things and a thousand more, if we have eyes to see, are telling the glory of God, and declaring the work of his hands.

Colossians 1:16-17

New King James Version (NKJV)

16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

So when we are overwhelmed by the glare of the sun, upset at the never ending throng of ants after our summer cupcakes…be encouraged to pause, take a minute.  God’s glory is shown through many things, let summer be the season of His Glory.

Like the hidden gems in nature, when was a time you focused on God’s hidden blessings?

Bishop Charles E. Blake Prays as Disaster Hits the Mid-West

Psalm 33:18-19 New King James Version (NKJV) Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him, On those who hope in His mercy,To deliver their soul from death, And to keep them alive in famine.

Hurricane Debby reached the shores of Florida, Tuesday, June 26, 2012. Debby showered more than 2 feet of rain on the grounds of Florida, infiltrating thousands of homes, down closing down roads before moving off the Atlantic cost Wednesday, June 27, 2012.

As Florida is in the restorative process, less than 2,000 miles away Colorado Springs is engulfed with wildfire. Almost helplessly the nation has watched more than 30,000 people airlifted out of Colorado by the Air Force Academy.  As ash drifts down the city, sirens wail and thick smoke permeates the air, Colorado Sprints Fire Chief Rich Brown says, “This is a fire of epic proportions.”

Bishop Charles E. Blake has taken to twitter saying; “Our hearts are touched as thousands have been displaced in Colorado, Florida, and other areas in the Mid-West where. We extend our sincere and deepest prayers in this time of need.”

Stay tuned as we bring more updates to you.

Instagram: Capturing Your Christian Walk

:::click click goes the camera:::

Capturing life’s moment day by day has progressively become a billion dollar app that we call Instagram.  In the Instagram world, you will typically see your friends showing pictures of quotes they love, foods they’ve cooked, eating at their favorite restaurants, or just things they’ve seen along on their everyday walk. Instagram has given the ability to have fun with your photos with cool altering depth effects or resolutions for all of your pictures. But if could captured your life through photos…would they tell a life of love and holiness?  Take heed to yourselves, lest you forget the covenant of the LORD your God which He made with you, and make for yourselves a carved image in the form of anything which the LORD your God has forbidden you. Deuteronomy 4:23

:::click click goes the camera:::

We cannot forget that God is the master photographer, architect, and developer over our life.  As a parishoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Ephesians 4:1-3 NIV

So we ask you this question, If God was to Instagram your life, what pictures would He take of your Christian walk with Him? Would it be filled with collages of you witnessing to others, using your gifts God has given you, and studying His word? Or would he take a pictures of you falling back into your old ways, pictures of distortion because of the confusion in your life, gossiping to friends or would most of your pictures just be a blur?

Share your thoughts…if God summed up your life in a photo album, what would He find? :::click click goes the camera:::
