Video memories of our children are amongst the most splendid treasures that a parent or guardian can hold onto.
Remember the VCR tape with the white label on the side? The one that read, “Baby’s first steps”?
Nowadays, you won’t see that video anymore, let alone a VCR. That same video is captured with no warning on our cel phones or tablets.
And one of those videos, taken on Independence Day, reached the eyes of the masses over the weekend. And Kayden Elijah, a 2-year old from Englewood, N.J., is the star.
Here’s the report from Fox 8:
“Kayden Elijah was born with an Omphalocele, a birth defect in which the infant’s intestine or other abdominal organs stick out of the navel…Kayden also had a band wrap around his legs and feet while he was in the womb, leading to some deformities.
In January, Kayden had his right foot and left leg amputated. In the video posted on July 4, he is shown using a small walker to help him learn how to walk.
His mother writes that doctors told her that he would not survive and even recommended she terminate the pregnancy.”
Towards the end of the video, Kayden can be heard repeating the phrase, “I got it,” over and over.
