2 Chronicles 31:21 – And in every work that he began in the service of the House of God, and in the law, and in the Commandments, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart, and prospered.
For his June 28 sermon, entitled, “Give God Something to Remember,” Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake Sr. was inspired by the work of King Hezekiah, who revived the House of God to its former glory in 2 Chronicles 29-31.
“It’s difficult to separate your love for God,” said Bishop, “from your love for the House of God. People of the Lord, there are folk in our nation who want the church to go out of existence. But who would encourage people to love one another? Who would encourage us to live holy before God?”
“The church is the hope of the world; we’re the light of the world! If the church will really be the church, then I don’t care what anybody did, we can turn this nation back toward God!”
Before Bishop’s sermon, the congregation was blessed by inspiring words from West Angeles member Magic Johnson, who surprised Bishop with a monetary gift for the church.
“God’s Word lets us know what’s right in His sight.”
“Pass whatever laws you want to pass; let the Supreme Court make whatever judgements it wants to make, but we’ve got to do what’s right in the sight of God.”
“Not important how we see it, but how does God see it?”
“Not my will…God’s Will.”
“Whatever others do, whatever others decide, we still have an obligation to obey God’s Word.”
“God has His vision, for His Kingdom, for His church, and for His work.”
“Did you know that you were blessed to be a blessing?”
“Show me what you’re spending and giving…and I’ll show you what you’re trusting.”
“People of the Lord, there are folk in our nation who want the church to go out of existence…But who would encourage people to love one another? …Who would encourage us to live Holy before God?”
“Let that be the eulogy…of all of us when we pass on into eternity, ‘She, [or] he, did what was right in the sight of God.’”
“It’s difficult to separate your love for God, from your love for the House of God.”
“We are in captivity, we’re in bondage, we are being attacked by our enemies. They’re coming against us. The state of our nation is in trouble, the wrath of God is upon us, but if we’ll turn toward God again, worship God, serve God and follow God’s plan, then God can turn this thing around!”
“If the church will really be the church, I don’t care what anybody did, we can turn this nation back toward God” – Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake, Sr.
“The church is the hope of the world. We are the salt of the earth. We’re the city set on the hill. We’re the light of the world!”
“If the church will really be the church, I don’t care what anybody did, we can turn this nation back toward God”
“When you put first priority on God, the song of the Lord begins in your life.”
“If you have something to give and you don’t give, then you don’t love. It’s as simple as that.”
“A covenant is where two parties agree to a mutual commitment to one another.”
“Giving God treasure promotes the full giving of your heart to your God. Jesus said, ‘Where your treasure is, there will be your heart.’”
“Has anybody found out that the Lord blesses you when you bless God’s work?”
“You’ll never have a victory if you don’t have a battle” – Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake, Sr.
“Does anybody in here want to have good success? The Word of God tells you how to have good success.”
“If God can get it through you, God will get it to you!”
“Walk uprightly, live righteously, treat people right, follow the Word of God, and your life will be Blessed more than you can ever dream…Let the church say, ‘Amen!’”
“When God finds somebody doing His Will, God blesses him and enables him to do that which will please the Lord”
“God blesses a blesser…When you bless God, God will bless you!”
“Let your trial take you higher!”
“It’s time for a turn-around!”
“You’ll never have a victory if you don’t have a battle.”
“Hold onto your faith; hold onto your commitment, hold onto your love of Almighty God. God will bring you out!”
