Confidence and Compassion in Prayer
"14 This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him. "
Bring Our Friend Home
|Prayer Request:||Our dear friend Johnny King went home to Jesus a week ago today. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Gertrude King. Johnny was an only child and youngest cousin in his family, so when he returned home he left behind no family to lay him to rest. We were blessed to be with him in his last few minutes on earth and promised him that we would do something beautiful for him.|
This last week has been a trial. Because we aren't legal next of kin, the mortuaries have declined to handle his remains at our request, and attorneys have been no help. Today, however, the hospital gave me good news: Johnny claimed me as his next of kin on his paperwork with them. The hospital offered to work things out with the mortuary on our behalf.
I have not heard back yet, and after a week's worth of hearing "no" after "no," our hopes are hanging by a thread. We know Johnny's spirit is already with his Heavenly Father, as well as his parents and other loved ones who preceded him home. We are asking for prayers for the return of his earthly remains so that we can fulfill our promise, and finally lay him to rest in beauty, peace, and dignity.
